| May 17, 2020 @ 4:09 pm

Storms continue across Alabama at this hour. Some of them are strong, with heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. One was considered severe, with a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Cullman County having been in effect until 4 p.m.

The main band extends from Cullman County down through East Alabama to near Anniston to Lafayette to the east of Auburn to just west of Phenix City.

Additional storms are moving northward the Birmingham Metro.

In West Alabama. storms over Choctaw and Sumter Counties are quite strong. They are moving north northeast toward Greene and Pickens Counties.

More scattered storms are over Mississippi ahead of a surface and upper-level low-pressure system. Some of this activity will work into Alabam tonight before we lose the heating of the day completely.

If you are near a storm, be alert for brief heavy rain, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning.
