Alabama Update at 1:55 P.M.

A big chunk of North-Central Alabama is getting a break from thunderstorms, including most of the Tuscaloosa, Birmingham and Anniston areas.

There were strong thunderstorms over the NE part, but the strongest thunderstorms of all were in a line from North Mobile County eastward across the extreme south part of the state up into East-Central Alabama. NWS-Birmingham has a Significant Weather Alert for Pike County until 2:30. It is really pouring rain in that line of storms.

To the west, a line of intense thunderstorms, a curved line U-shaped, was over Central Mississippi. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for that area and several Warnings were posted. The Severe Thunderstorm Watch in Mississippi covers practically the southern two-thirds of the state.

The Storm Prediction Center is also considering a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for part of South Alabama.
