So Muggy It Feels Like You Can “Wear The Air” at Midday

| June 9, 2020 @ 12:42 pm

Muggy & Hot is the Word for Your Tuesday

As of the 12:00 pm round-up, we have a good bit of scattered shower and thunderstorm activity across all of Central Alabama as temperatures were in the 80s at this point. Bessemer and Haleyville were the cool spots at 80 degrees while Montgomery leads the way at 88 degrees. Birmingham was at 83 degrees.

We’ll continue to have scattered showers and thunderstorms across all of Central Alabama throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening hours. We do not believe that any of these storms will become severe, but I can’t rule out a strong storm or two. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 80s to the lower 90s and that will feel like you are wearing the air as the humidity levels remain tropical due to the southerly flow from the Gulf of Mexico.

A Few Strong to Severe Storms Possible on Wednesday

A cold front will work through Central Alabama on your Hump Day that will bring more showers and thunderstorms into the forecast. A few strong to severe storms may be possible with isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 MPH and a smaller threat of large hail will be possible during a window from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm. All locations in Central Alabama east of a line from Addison (Winston Co.) to Gorgas (Tuscaloosa Co.) to Cuba (Sumter Co.) has been placed in a Level 1 Marginal Risk for severe storms throughout all of Wednesday. It will be very warm to hot with high humidity levels with a good chance of showers and storms early, but those will become likely during the afternoon and early evening hours. Highs will be in the mid-80s to the lower 90s.
