Late Afternoon in Alabama–5 o’clock Report

NWS at Birmingham has issued a Special Weather Statement for Fayette, Lamar and Pickens County in West Alabama until 5:30. The Significant Weather Alert mentions possible gusts to 50, heavy downpours.

The storms of concern extended from SE of Columbus, Miss., to SE of Millport moving NE ay 30. Moving generally toward these communities:

Shaw
Millport
Kennedy
Star
Hightogy
Vernon

Elsewhere, a line of scattered storms extended all across the state to south of Birmingham and all the way over to Randolph County. Moving NE. Line is not solid by any means and so far no formal warnings.

For the afternoon rush hour, you could run into some very heavy rain. Our entire area is outlined for a slight risk of severe weather by the NWS/Storm Prediction Center.
