Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Jefferson, Shelby and Chilton: Prepare for Strong Winds

The Birmingham Metro area, including Jefferson, Chilton, and Shelby Counties, need to prepare for strong winds that will be arriving in the next 10 to 45 minutes from Bessemer to Trussville down to Leeds, Pelham, Alabaster, Calera, Montevallo, and Jemison/Thorsby.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Northern Chilton County in central Alabama…
Shelby County in central Alabama…
Southern Jefferson County in central Alabama…

* Until 1015 PM CDT.

* At 919 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Brookwood to near Woodstock to near Ashby,
moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Birmingham, Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Alabaster, Bessemer, Homewood,
Pelham, Mountain Brook, Trussville, Helena, Hueytown, Irondale,
Leeds, Moody, Calera, Fairfield, Chelsea, Montevallo, Columbiana
and Jemison.
