New Flood Warning for Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, Lawrence Co. Until 4:30 pm

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a

* Flood Warning for…
Southeastern Colbert County in northwestern Alabama…
Northeastern Franklin County in northwestern Alabama…
Central Lauderdale County in northwestern Alabama…
Northwestern Lawrence County in northwestern Alabama…

* Until 430 PM CDT.

* At 131 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms across central and eastern Lauderdale and Colbert
Counties in Northwestern Alabama. Nuisance flooding has been
reported in the city of Florence, and a couple of County Roads
have been briefly closed in the Green Hill area of Lauderdale
County. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain has fallen so far today,
with another inch of rain possible in the next few hours. This
will make any lingering flooding conditions worse.

Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia, Killen,
Littleville, Lexington, Leighton, St. Florian,
Underwood-Petersville, Northwest Alabama Regional Airport, Ford
City, Center Star, Zip City, Green Hill, Whiteoak, Colbert
Heights, Oakland, Elgin and Kingtown.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Turn Around,
Don’t Drown!
