Late night showers are moving across parts of North and North Central Alabama at this early, early hour.

They extend from eastern Lawrence and Winston Counties eastward across Morgan, Cullman, Blount, Marshall, Madison, Jackson, DeKalb, Etowah and into northern St. Clair Counties.

Rainfall was heaviest from north of Addison through Falkville and Eva up to north of Union Grove. There was some lightning showing up in the cell north of Addison.

To the west, a cluster of modersate showers was in the Columbus, MS area. This activity will move into Lamar and marion and across Fayette, Winston and Walker Counties over the next couple of hours. It shows no signs of intensifying right now.

Over North Mississippi, a line of showers was developing from Clarksdale to Batesville to north of Oxford to New Albany and on into the northwest corner of Alabama. This activity will likely grow into storms over the next hour or so. It is ahead of our cool front. This front will trigger showers and storms today across Alabama.

No severe weather is anticipated, although an isolated strong storm could occur.

On a good note, these are parts of the state that needed rain in the short term the most.
