Alabama Update 11 am: Storms Will Continue to Increase This Afternoon

| July 12, 2020 @ 11:05 am

We continue to track thunderstorms over northeastern Mississippi, northwestern Alabama, and southern Tennessee that are pushing southeastward late this morning.

The airmass ahead of the storms will continue to destabilize into the afternoon as temperatures rise and moisture continues to increase across the area.

With a decent amount of bulk wind shear, some of the storms could be severe, with damaging winds the main threat. Hail, heavy rain, and lightning will also accompany the storms.

The SPC mentions a 40% chance that they will issue a severe thunderstorm watch in their discussion.
