Flash Flood Watch Issued for Portions of Central Alabama for Much of Today

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS MORNING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of central Alabama, east central Alabama, northeast Alabama, and west central Alabama, including the following areas, in central Alabama, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Coosa, Jefferson, Perry, Shelby, St. Clair, and Talladega. In east central Alabama, Calhoun, Clay, and Cleburne. In northeast Alabama, Cherokee and Etowah. In west central Alabama, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa.

* From Friday morning through late Friday night

* Showers and a few thunderstorms have been moving toward the northeast across Southwest and Central Alabama and this activity is expected to continue to develop and move northeast across the area through tonight.
