Two years ago, Alabama was broiling in the midst of one of the state’s worst heat waves ever. The mercury reached 105F at Birmingham, a record for the month of August. It also marked the ninth consecutive day that the mercury had reached the century mark, which was also a new record.

At Muscle Shoals, it was 107F, the second hottest temperature ever recorded in the Northwest Alabama city. Pinson also recorded 107F, the hottest August day ever observed at that long running cooperative station.

…101 Troy, Clay
…102 Meridianville, Gadsden (Noccalula Falls) Shelby Shores, Cordova
…103 Desoto State Park, Jemison, Jasper, Crumly Chapel, McCalla, Hamilton
…104 Bankhead National Forest, Decatur, Cullman Airport, Anniston, Black Creek
