No video here due to some sort of problem with the YouTube upload. It is available via iTunes. I will keep trying to upload on YouTube and update this post if I succeed.
Okay, this is NOT your typical August in Central Alabama. Typical would be highs around 90, lows around 68, and humidity around 65 percent. For today, with dew points in the mid and upper 50s, it is going to feel great plus the cooler air streaming into our area thanks to the unusually deep trough over the eastern third of the country.
The upper trough gradual weakens over the next several days as the broad area of high pressure at the surface moves steadily eastward. Moisture is expected to return at mid-week opening the way to the possibility of isolated to scattered showers for the latter part of the week and into next weekend. Plus a new trough begins to get itself established from Friday into Saturday which promises a somewhat unsettled weekend for us.
And the long range forecasts suggest the presence of the eastern US trough which means no sign of any significant heat.
Hurricane Bill is moving away from the New England states and Bill should be weakening as it continues to move over colder water. I suspect he will be downgraded to a tropical storm later today – perhaps by early afternoon. No other areas of concern at the moment.

It was 57 degrees on Mt. Cheaha this morning while I was doing the Weather Xtreme Video. I sure needed the light jacket and gloves would have been a nice addition to my wardrobe. Definitely need to get out and enjoy this wonderful weather for August – just a gentle reminder that Fall is not far away. James Spann should be posting the next Weather Xtreme Video by 7 am Monday morning. Enjoy the day and Godspeed.
