Morning Update: Clouds Slow to Exit in the East, Brilliant Sunshine Elsewhere

| January 3, 2021 @ 10:48 am

Clouds have been slow to erode over Northeast and portions of East Central Alabama this morning. There is brilliant sunshine everywhere else.

Temperatures are still in the 40s across all of Central and North Alabama after morning lows that ranged from 38F in Tuscaloosa and Huntsville to 45 in Montgomery and 46F in Mobile. It was 41F in Birmingham, 40F in Calera, and 42F in Anniston.

Highs today will be 48-50 across the Tennessee Valley and Northeast Alabama, and 52-55 elsewhere under mostly sunny skies in most areas, just some clouds evaporating gradually in the cloudier spots.

Lows tonight will be fairly consistent, between 30-33F under fair skies early with a little patchy fog forming. Another upper-level trough will pass by during the night as well, accompanied by a decent slug of mid-level moisture, which will lead to some clouds, but no precipitation.

Monday will feature pesky clouds and some sun, with high temperatures rising into the middle and upper 50s North, and upper 50s and lower 60s Central.

Next rain chance comes late Wednesday night and Thursday. No really cold weather, wintry precipitation, or severe weather in sight.
