Large Area of Rain Continues

The intensity of the rain across the middle of Alabama is diminishing in overall intensity at this hour.

But, moderate to heavy rain still continues across a wide area from Gadsden to Cullman to Linden to Montgomery to Dadeville to Talladega. The heaviest rain is staying west of Auburn, where the Tigers are taking on Louisiana Tech.

The heaviest rain accompanied by some lightning is southwest of Clanton.

A huge Flash Flood Warning is in effect for areas from southern Bibb and Chilton Counties southwestward through Perry, Northwest Autauga, Northwest Dallas, southern Hale and southeastern Marengo Counties.

Large areas of 2-4 inch rainfall have fallen according to Doppler radar estimates over a wide area…including parts of Jefferson, Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Chilton, Autauga, Dallas and Perry Counties.

1.13 inches of rain officially through 6 p.m. with additional rain continuing. UPDATE-an additional 0.11 in tha past hour, making the total 1.24.

In the Birmingham area, Terry Sasser in Mt. Olive picked up over two inches.
