Folks in Northwest Alabama are waking up like many of the rest of us did on Saturday, with rain and thunder.

Showers have been building over the past hour or so over parts of Winston, walker and Marion Counties. The heaviest activity is along US-278 between Hamilton and Double Springs.

Movement is north at about 10 mph.

Persistent light rains have been falling all night over Northeast Alabama and lingering showers continue over Southwest Alabama. They are moving northeast toward South Central Alabama.

Brian will be along with the forecast video in a few minutes. Updates all day.
