Skies are partly sunny over the northern third of Alabama late this morning.

Light showers have developed over the western and eastern parts of the state…covering parts of:

…Pickens, Sumter and Greene Counties

..Shelby, Talladega, Clay, Randolph and southern Cleburne Counties.

A large mass of rain covers the southern third of the state…the northern extent is from Butler to Linden to Selma to Montgomery to Clayton.

The activity over West and South Alabama is moving north and northeast at only about 5-10 mph.

The east Alabama activity is fairly stationary.

Expect light rain to become more widespread as we head into the afternoon with the large mass of rain slowly edging north, increasing rain chances this evening.
