Tornado Passing Just North of Piedmont in Southern Cherokee County

Tornado in Cherokee County is crossing AL-9 north of Piedmont.

It has caused severe damage in Ohatchee.

Everyone from McFrey Crossroads to Frog Mountain, to Adams Crossroads, Rock Run, Bauxite and Haney shouold be in safe shelter.

It will pass into Georgia as it exits Cherokee County.

The NWS Birmingham continues a tornado warning for southern Cherokee County.

…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 400 PM CDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN CHEROKEE COUNTY…

At 313 PM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located near Piedmont, moving
northeast at 40 mph.

HAZARD…Damaging tornado and half dollar size hail.

SOURCE…Radar confirmed tornado.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

Locations impacted include…
Forney, Pleasant Gap, Eastern Weiss Lake, Coloma and Spring Garden.
