Freeze Watch Issued for North Alabama on Friday Morning

NWS Huntsville has issued a Freeze Watch that will go into effect at 12 am Friday and is set to expire at 8 am Friday for the following counties in North Alabama: Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, Morgan.

…FREEZE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE THURSDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY
MORNING…

* WHAT… Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 possible.

* WHERE… Portions of north central, northeast and northwest
Alabama.

* WHEN… From late Thursday night through Friday morning.

* IMPACTS… Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other
sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor
plumbing.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent
freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should
be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-
ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
