West Side Storms Flexing Their Muscle

Thunderstorms over on the west side of Alabama were growing stronger late this afternoon.

In fact they have lined up in a north-south strip that extends all the way from Florence and Decatur southward to NW Clarke County in SW Alabama.

Pouring rain now in places like West Tuscaloosa, Greene and the Demopolis area of Marengo County.

Very heavy rain also over NW Alabama.

NWS has issued a Significant Weather Alert for Lauderdale County until 6:30 and for Greene and Sumter County until 6:15. A Flood Advisory has been posted for Greene, Marengo and Sumter County.

The individual thunderstorms were moving toward the NNE while the overall line of storms was shifting slowly eastward.

Some of these storms are capable of dumping one inch of rain in a very short time.
