They are getting close to kick off in Auburn, and the weather is not very good right now. The stadium is in weather delay right now because of lightning. I understand 3/4 of the field is under water.

The game will not begin until 30 minutes after the last lightning strike within a 6 mile radius of the stadium.

A major thunderstorm cell merger was occurring over Lee and Russell Counties. This is going to result in some 3-4 inch per hour rainfall rates. The core of the heaviest precipitation will miss Jordan Hare Stadium by a few miles to the east…but other healthy storms are rolling northward toward Auburn itself. Lots of lightning and heavy rain.

Heavy rain will last about 30-45 minutes with moderate rain lasting an hour. More storms are forming near Union Springs in Bullock County, which will be in line to affect the Auburn area late in the first half.

Unfortunately for the fans, it looks like the game could be wet, once it starts.

Elsewhere…moderate rain and some thunderstorms continues over Talladega, Clay, Coosa, Elmore and Autauga Counties. A flash flood warning is in effect for Perry, Bibb, Chilton, Autauga and Dallas Counties.

In the Birmingham, a single shower has formed south of Corner in northern Jefferson County. It is moving toward Warrior and Smoke Rise.
