Flood Advisory for Parts of Jefferson County Until 7:45 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for…
Central Jefferson County in central Alabama…

* Until 745 PM CDT.

* At 442 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding.
Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Birmingham, Vestavia Hills, Homewood, Mountain Brook, Irondale,
Fairfield, Regions Field, U.A.B. Campus, Five Points South,
B.j.c.c., Legion Field, Samford University, Birmingham Southern
College, Kingston, Birmingham Fairgounds, Ensley, Vulcan Park,
Birmingham Zoo, Highland Park Golf Course and Rickwood Field.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the
area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
