Areal Flood Advisory for Parts of Bibb, Hale, Shelby, Tuscaloosa Co. Until 11:30 pm

…FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 PM CST THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…A portion of central Alabama, including the following
counties, Bibb, Hale, Shelby and Tuscaloosa.

* WHEN…Until 1130 PM CST.

* IMPACTS…Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 933 PM CST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
flooding. 2 inches of rain may fall in a short period of
time.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Montevallo, Brent, Centreville, Vance, West Blocton, Wilton,
Eoline, West Centreville, North Bibb, Low Gap, University Of
Montevallo, Harmon, Pearson, Hagler, Bibb County Airport,
Hebron, Six Mile and Marvel.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
