Late Morning in Alabama–10:45 Report

| October 12, 2009 @ 10:49 am | 3 Replies

At 10:45, south of Birmingham, showers were widespread over a broad area from Sumter, Greene and Hale County on the west side, eastward all the way to the Georgia border. The showers were rather numerous but not a solid rain area. The heaviest rain was from SE of Montgomery eastward to NW of Columbus, Ga., and Phenix City, Ala.

A more solid rain area was over NW Alabama that had spread into the state from Mississippi. Rain was extensive across Pickens, Lamar, Fayette, Marion and Franklin County.

The immediate Birmingham area was getting some occasional breaks from the rain but not for long. A solid area of moderate to heavy rain was over Walker and North Tuscaloosa County moving toward Birmingham.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for about the north half of Alabama at least until 4 this afternoon.

Expect this “unoctoberish” weather to be around off and on all week.
