CANCELED Tornado Warning for Portions of Lamar County until 7 pm

The warning is canceled as the storm has weakened. It is moving into western Fayette County and will move into northwestern Walker County as well.

UPDATE AT 645 PM

The storm has weakened a bit and the NWS Birmingham says it will not extend downstream into Fayette County.

The storm over Lamar County is becoming increasingly organized. It could produce a tornado at any time as it moves into more favorable conditions.

Residents over eastern Lamar County should take cover, including Crossville.

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a

* Tornado Warning for…
Southeastern Lamar County in west central Alabama…

* Until 700 PM CST.

* At 635 PM CST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Millport, moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.
