Counties in Tornado Watch Disappearing; Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Portions of the Area for Tonight

NWS Birmingham continues to remove counties from the Tornado Watch as the threat for severe weather continues to move eastward and out of the state. The watch continues for Autauga, Chambers, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Marengo, Randolph, and Tallapoosa counties in Central Alabama until 5 am this morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of North Alabama and for the extreme northern counties of Central Alabama starting tonight at 6 pm and is set to expire at 3 am Monday morning. The North Alabama counties include Colbert, Cullman, DeKalb, Franklin, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan, and the Central Alabama counties are Blount, Cherokee, Etowah, Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Walker, and Winston.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 3 AM CST MONDAY…

* WHAT… Snow expected. Total snow accumulations around one inch, with localized amounts up to two inches.

* WHERE… All of northern Alabama and southern middle Tennessee.

* WHEN… From 6 PM this evening to 3 AM CST Monday.

* IMPACTS… Slippery road conditions may develop this evening and overnight.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Slow down and use caution while traveling if snow is encountered.
