Midday Nowcast: Sunshine in Full Supply
Not a cloud in the sky today across Alabama, and after the cold start to the day, we are seeing temperatures head into the mid to upper 60s this afternoon; these are about ten degrees below normal for this time of year. Tonight will be another clear and cold one with upper 30s and lower 40s.
ACROSS THE USA: A Nor’easter will continue to bring gusty winds, heavy snow, heavy rain, coastal flooding, and rough seas to the Northeast U.S. into Tuesday night. Dry, gusty winds will continue critical fire weather conditions across the High Plains into the Southwest U.S. through Saturday. Two Pacific storm systems will bring coastal rain and mountain snow over the Northwest U.S. through most of this week.
SPLENDID SPRING WEATHER: The upper ridge strengthens across the region, and our weather will stay dry with a warming trend the rest of this week. A few more clouds in the sky tomorrow, but Thursday and Friday will feature tons of sunshine. The high tomorrow returns to the mid 70s, followed by low 80s Thursday, and mid 80s Friday.
WARM WEEKEND WEATHER: The warmest weekend so far this year across Alabama is ahead. Both days will feature more sun than clouds with highs in the mid to upper 80s Saturday and Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: Moisture begins to return Monday and a few widely scattered showers could break out across the state, but our next widespread rainmaker looks to arrive Tuesday as a cold front brings rain and storms back to Alabama. For now it doesn’t look like a severe weather setup, and cooler air returns for the latter half of the week with highs back in the 70s.
