Areal Flood Warning: Parts of Clay, Talladega Co. Until 9 pm

…FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CDT THIS EVENING…

* WHAT…Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE…Clay and Talladega Counties.

* WHEN…Until 900 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS…Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
remain closed due to flooding. It will take several hours for all
the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems
in urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
– At 448 PM CDT, Flooding is already occurring in the warned
area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding
issues continue across the warned area.
– Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Sylacauga, Childersburg, Wilsonville, Talladega Springs,
Vincent, Oak Grove, Bon Air, Sycamore, Winterboro,
Fayetteville, Logan Martin Dam, Lay Lake, Mignon, Sylacauga
Municipal Airport, Gantts Quarry, Varnons, Overbrook, Hollins
and Cedar Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
