A String Of Sunny Days

NICE THROUGH SUNDAY: Pretty simple package in the short term. Sunny days, clear nights though Sunday with a gradual day to day warming trend. Looks like most folks will drop down into the upper 30s tomorrow morning, with potential for a light freeze for the colder valleys. Then, we rise close to 70 tomorrow afternoon, followed by mid 70s over the weekend.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Some more high school playoff games tomorrow night. You could not custom order better weather. It will be clear. Temperatures close to 60 at kick off and dropping to around 48 or 50 by the final whistle. In college games, Alabama will be in Starkville Saturday night to play Mississippi State. Kick off is at 6:00. Clear weather, around 68, but in the upper 50s in the 4th quarter. Auburn will be in Athens to play Georgia Saturday night with a 6:00 p.m. kick off. Clear weather there also with 65 at kick off and mid 50s by the 4th quarter. UAB is in Memphis for a noon kick off Saturday. Sunny with 68 at kick off and warming to about 75 during the game.

NEXT WEEK: We have removed the chance of rain for Monday, but showers are possible Tuesday and Wednesday as an upper low spins away near Wichita, Kansas. Doesn’t looks like a big rain event, with amounts generally under 1/2 inch, and no significant threat of severe weather.

Our annual training event, Storm Alert Xtreme, is coming up on Saturday November 14 at the BJCC during the annual Birmingham International Auto Show. You will be trained by the best SKYWARN trainer in the nation, our own Brian Peters (he has trained over 6,000 Alabama storm spotters over the years). We encourage all of our Skywatchers to attend this every year; you simply cannot get enough training. We will begin at 9:30, and be out by 2:30. And, everyone that attends Storm Alert Xtreme gets free admission to the Alabama International Auto Show. There is no admission charge, and no need to register. Just show up, but get there early for a good seat. We had a packed house last year.
