An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS AFTERNOON: As expected, most all of Alabama is covered by a blanket of clouds. You have to go all the way to Gulf Shores to find sunshine; for the rest of us it is a cloudy and cool day with temperatures in the 50s.

TOMORROW/WEDNESDAY: A huge difference remains in our two primary models concerning temperatures tomorrow. The GFS is printing a high of 68, while the NAM is 11 degrees cooler with 57. I will lean toward the NAM solution with the clouds hanging tough. I figure the high will be close to 60 degrees with sunshine being very hard to find during the day. Then, tomorrow night, a weak front passes through, but with very shallow moisture we figure most places will stay dry. Then, on Wednesday, we might see a few intervals of sunshine with a high in the low 60s.

TRAVEL WEATHER: The good news is that Wednesday looks nice and quiet across much of the nation with no major rain, severe thunderstorm, or winter storm events on the board. See the Weather Xtreme video for a full breakdown on travel weather for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: A strong upper trough develops over the eastern third of the nation on Thanksgiving Day, and will deliver a shot of colder air down into the Deep South. Thursday looks breezy and cold with a mix of sun and clouds. It is doubtful we get out of the 40s. Then, I figure we will begin the day Friday with an early morning low in the upper 20s. Friday will feature blue sky and sunshine and a high around 50 degrees.

IRON BOWL FORECAST: What a great day for the game in Auburn Friday afternoon… a clear sky with a kickoff temperature near 50 degrees. The temperature will drop into the 40s during the second half as the sun goes down.

WEEKEND PEEK: Dry and pleasant weather is the story for Saturday and Sunday with highs in the 60 to 65 degree range. Mornings will remain chilly; we will be close to freezing at daybreak Saturday. The low Sunday morning will be around 40 degrees.

OUR NEXT RAIN EVENT: The 12Z GFS sure looks wet Monday of next week; the rain tapers off Monday night, followed by drier air on Tuesday and Wednesday.

LONG RANGE: Much of the continental U.S. will likely see a pretty stout shot of very cold, Arctic air sometime in the December 2-7 time frame. Too early to be specific on how cold this far south. And, the southern stream will continue to crank out storm systems that will impact Alabama every three to five days. Looks like an interesting month. Then again, December usually is rarely boring, with potential here for both severe weather events and winter storm threats most years. Again, see the Weather Xtreme video for more on ideas from voodoo land.
