A Delightful Sunday Afternoon
True Chamber of Commerce Weather across all of Alabama on this Sunday afternoon. There is not a cloud in the sky over any portion of Alabama as we are just past the noon hour, although a few stratocumuli are showing up on visible satellite imagery over extreme North Georgia and the Chattanooga area. Some of those could edge into Jackson and DeKalb counties over the next few hours, but it will only serve to give the beautiful blue skies a little depth.
Temperatures are warming into the 70s. Highs will look like this a little later today:
High pressure will dominate Alabama’s and much of the Ohio and Tennessee Valley’s weather in the coming week. By Friday, a dry cold front will approach from the northwest. It will serve to deliver a reinforcing shot of slightly cooler and drier air for next weekend, which looks beautiful again.

Dryness is an increasing concern across Alabama with the expected dry conditions last over the next ten days, at least.
So far storage at both of the Birmingham Water Works Board’s reservoirs is still very good. Lake Purdy has been full all summer and has just started dipping below 100% during our current dry spell. Inland Lake is a little over 75% full.
