A Very Nice, Sunny, & Mild Midday Across the Area

AT 12:50 PM: Skies are clear across the area at this time, with only a few clouds over the southeastern parts of the area. Temperatures as of the 12 pm roundup were in the mid 60s to the lower 80s across the area. Haleyville was the cool spot at 65º. Eufaula was the warm spot at 81º. Birmingham was sitting at 70º.

REST OF TODAY: Skies will remain sunny through the rest of the daylight hours, with afternoon highs in the lower 70s to the lower 80s. Skies will be clear tonight and there is the possibility of some patchy frost over the northeastern parts of the area as lows will drop into the upper 30s to the upper 40s. Colder spots may even reach the mid 30s for a little while.

SUNDAY’S WEATHER: Skies will once again be sunny and temperatures will continue to be mild tomorrow as highs will reach the lower 70s to the lower 80s.

TROPICAL STORM JULIA: Julia is making her way quickly toward Nicaragua as a strong tropical storm with winds at 65 mph. Julia is moving toward the west near 18 mph. A general westward motion with some decrease in forward speed is expected through Monday. On the forecast track, the center of Julia is expected to pass near or over San Andres and Providencia Islands later today and then move inland along the coast of Nicaragua early Sunday morning. Julia is then expected to cross Nicaragua on Sunday, and move near or along the Pacific coasts of Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador Sunday night and Monday. Strengthening is forecast, and Julia is expected to become a hurricane later today. Weakening is forecast after the center moves inland over Nicaragua on Sunday, but Julia could still be at or near tropical storm strength when it moves near or along the Pacific coasts of Nicaragua, Honduras, and El Salvador Sunday night and Monday. Julia is forecast to become a remnant low by late Monday and dissipate by Tuesday.
