A burst of snow is moving through the NE parts of Jefferson County…with the heaviest snow in places like Center Point, Trussville, Pinson, and Clay. No accumulation here in Trussville yet, but a very pretty scene. That area of snow will move up I-59 toward Springville and Odenville soon.

This seems to be the main event…now that the atmosphere is saturated, we should see at least light snow here in BHM for several more hours. The main upper-level divergence, which creates low pressure and pulls air upward, causing more precipitation, is moving in now.

Expect most areas from the Warrior River SE to see 1/2″ to 1″ of snow. However, with warm ground temperatures (soil temps near 50 according to the Auburn University mesonet), the main accumulations will be in grassy areas and on cars, etc. Use common sense if you have to drive tomorrow morning, or postpone travel until late morning.
