The Early Evening Weather Report – Afternoon Highs Continuing the Upward Climb

| December 27, 2022 @ 5:52 pm

As of 5:29 pm, skies across Central Alabama were mostly clear with only a few clouds over the east and southeastern parts of the area. Temperatures as of the 5 pm roundup were in the upper 30s to the lower 50s. The cold spot was Gadsden at 39 degrees, while the warm spots were Selma and Troy at 50 degrees. Birmingham was at 47 degrees.

Highs across Central Alabama were much warmer than what we saw on Monday, ranging from the upper 40s to the upper 50s. However, overnight lows tonight will dip back below freezing in the mid 20s to the lower 30s with mainly clear skies.

We’ll see another big jump in temperatures on Wednesday as we’ll continue to have a southerly flow over the area. Skies will be mostly sunny and afternoon highs will be up in the mid 50s to the lower 60s.

There will not be a big cool down anytime soon as afternoon highs will be in the 60s and 70s through at least next Tuesday, with dry weather continuing through this Friday morning. Rain chances and some thunder will move in Friday afternoon and hang around through Saturday evening. A small chance of rain will continue as we ring in the New Year at midnight on Saturday night, but New Year’s Day continues to trend dry. After that, rain can be expected at times on each day next week.
