Here comes the best snacking day of the year in America, the Super Bowl. But for people in the party food business, the week before is the big one. The seven-day period has been called the “Black Friday” of the snacking industry: Last year, fans bought 112 million pounds of tortilla chips, pretzels, chips and dips in the runup to the game, and sales hit $616 million, according to SNAC International.

While prepackaged dips and chips rule game day, a few dishes demand more attention. Exhibit A: Pigs in a blanket. They have been one of the top five most-searched recipes leading up to Super Bowl LVII, ranking just behind Philly cheesesteaks.
