Weather Briefing Video — A Few Strong Storms This Afternoon & Evening

| June 4, 2023 @ 6:58 am

TODAY: A shortwave will move into the area today that will bring an increase in the scattered shower and thunderstorm chances across Central Alabama today, especially over the east and northeastern parts of the area. A few storms may become strong to severe, and the SPC has issued a Marginal Risk for locations east of a line from Florence to Jasper to Alexander City for the threat of isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph. Highs in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.

THE WORK WEEK AHEAD: Monday and Tuesday’s weather will be just like your normal summertime weather, as there will be partly sunny skies and scattered showers and storms during the afternoon to early evening hours on both days. Monday’s highs in the mid 80s to the lower 90s, and up into the upper 80s to the lower 90s on Tuesday.

Wednesday looks to be pretty much the same as well, as skies will be partly sunny with scattered afternoon showers and storms. Highs in the mid 80s to the lower 90s.

A surface boundary slowly pushes southward into the area on Thursday, that will increase our rain chances. We’ll have scattered to numerous showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours, and highs in the mid to upper 80s.

The boundary will have moved south of the area on Friday, and we look to have much calmer weather. While an isolated shower or storm is possible, nearly everyone will stay dry. Highs in the mid to upper 80s.

THE START OF THE WEEKEND: And at the end of the forecast period on Saturday, high pressure will be building over the southeast that will keep our weather much more quiet for another day. We still can’t rule out an isolated shower or two, but nearly everyone will be dry. Highs in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.
