Outlook for the Next Few Hours

| June 14, 2023 @ 5:07 pm

It has been a day of widespread training thunderstorms that have produced lots of wind damage, significant power outages, and even some tornadoes across Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

For the next few hours, here is what we expect:

On going storms along a stationary front situated across Central Alabama will continue for the next few hours with the line of storms gradually pushing south. They should be out of South Zcentral Alabama by 9 p.m.

But other storms are forming now across Arkansas and Mississippi and these storms will make it into Central Alabama by 9-10 p.m. this evening. Those storms will take several hours to clear the area.

With a warm, moist, unstable airmass in place and stronger than usual mid and upper level winds, more severe storms will be likely.

A new severe thunderstorm watch has replaced the tornado watch.
