Round 1 is Done, Round 2 Later Tonight

| June 14, 2023 @ 9:17 pm

Storms are building tonight over Arkansas and Mississippi and are heading toward southwestern Alabama overnight.

We continue to get reports of large hail to the west of Alabama. Recently saw a report of 1.25 inch hail from Clinton on the west side of Jackson MS.

There have been several reports of up to 1.75 inch hail from the Mississippi Delta counties.

Golf ball sized hail is falling at Hopper AR tonight, between Mena and Hot Springs.

This activity is not expected to die out overnight and it should be approaching Southwest Alabama around midnight.

It will be mainly along and south of US=80 from Demopolis to Montgomery. As additional storms form near the Gulf Coast toward morning, the South Alabama activity will weaken, nbut it should continue through sunrise.

The main threat will be hail and damaging winds. The tornado threat is very low.

We want our friends in South Central and South Alabama to keep one ear on the Weatheradio overnight. With the history of damaging winds we have had today, we will want to take any severe thunderstorm warnings seriously.

North and North Central Alabama should be storm free overnight. There will be scattered showers and storms across the northern half of the state tomorrow commencing by late morning, but should be nothing like today. Looks like we will deal with a couple of rounds of rain and storms on Friday, but mainly over the southern half of the state again.
