Softball Sized Hail At Columbus MS: New Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Most of Pickens County Until 630 pm

4″ inch diameter hail was reported at Columbus MS and ping pong to softball sized hail at Caledonia MS.

Baseball sized hail and hail covering the ground was reported at Forest AL in Pickens County.

The most dangerous part of this storm now is near US-82 just east of Ethelsville. Still indicating 1″ hail with the capacity to produce 1.5 inch hail. The hail core has increased a little in the past five minutes. It will pass near or just south of Reform. Carrollton and Gordo are now in the warning. The storm will eventually move into western Tuscaloosa County. The worst part of the storm could miss the Tuscaloosa area to the west. But it will be close.

Also has torrential rain and over 60 lightning flashes per minute. Winds could gust to 60 mph as well. Doppler radar is indicating winds to 75 mph at about 1800 feet above the ground.

So please take this severe thunderstorm warning seriously. It continues for Central Pickens Counties.
