Flood Watch Issued for the Southwestern Portions of Central Alabama Through 7 am Tomorrow

NWS Birmingham issues an Areal Flood Watch starting tonight at 9 pm for Autauga, Bibb, Chilton, Dallas, Elmore, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Marengo, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa counties in Central Alabama until 7 am Monday morning.

An additional 1 to 2 inches of rain is expected this evening and into the overnight hours on top of saturated soils in place. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
