Everyone, Meet Tropical Storm Bret…

| June 19, 2023 @ 4:07 pm

Our newly minted tropical depression is already upgraded to Tropical Storm Bret.

Bret is expected to move through the Lesser Antilles as a hurricane on Thursday and Friday, bringing a risk of flooding from heavy rainfall, hurricane-force winds, and dangerous storm surge and waves.

It is too early to specify the location and magnitude of where these hazards could occur. However, everyone in the Lesser Antilles, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands should closely monitor updates to the forecast for this system and have their hurricane plan in place.

The GFS now brings the storm into the Lesser Antilles and over the Greater Antilles and recurves it out to sea. The Euro has flip flopped and recurves the storm east of the islands.

We will have plenty of time to watch it but it does not appears to be a threat to the United States or the Gulf of Mexico.
