Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Western Jefferson County Now

| August 9, 2023 @ 7:46 pm

The very strong thunderstorm now over southern Walker County and northern Tuscaloosa County is moving east southeast into western Jefferson County.

All of the familiar western Jefferson County communities like Mulga, Maytown, Short Creek, Sylvan Springs, Rock Creek and Concord, and eventually western sections of Birmingham will be impacted by this storm.

Low level shear is increasing and we cna’t rule out the possibility of a tornado as well as damaging winds. 2″ inch hail is occurring in the core which is west of Short Creek.
