| March 23, 2024 @ 12:22 pm

A Frost Advisory is in effect from 3 AM to 8 AM CDT on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to range from 33 to 37 degrees, leading to frost formation that could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. If left uncovered, delicate plants may be at risk of being killed by the cold.

Central Alabama counties included in advisory: Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Clay, Cleburne, Etowah, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Randolph, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:

• Take immediate steps to protect tender plants from the cold.
• Cover sensitive plants with blankets, sheets, or frost cloth.
• Consider bringing potted plants indoors or placing them in sheltered areas.
• Water the soil thoroughly to help insulate plant roots.
• Apply mulch around plants to retain soil moisture and regulate temperature.
• Use additional heat sources like frost blankets, row covers, or non-LED holiday lights for added protection.

Stay informed and monitor weather updates for any changes in conditions.
