An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

THIS MORNING: We begin the day with clear and cold weather across Alabama… seems like most folks are in the 23 to 29 degree range. Temperatures will rise into the low to mid 50s this afternoon with a partly sunny sky.

TONIGHT: An impulse will bring a chance of light rain to much of the state tonight; looks like the best chance of that rain will come from about 12:00 midnight to 6:00 a.m. tomorrow, and amounts of only a tenth of an inch are expected up this way. The better amounts will be over the southern half of the state, and even there the totals will be under 1/2 inch.

TOMORROW/WEDNESDAY: Rain will end early tomorrow morning, and the sun should peek out by midday as drier air returns. The high tomorrow should be in the low 50s. Wednesday looks nice with a good supply of sunshine and a high in the mid to upper 50s.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY: The most significant rain event of the week will impact Alabama here, with rain likely Thursday and Thursday night thanks to a developing low in the Gulf of Mexico. No ice or snow, and no severe weather, just plain ole rain. Amounts of 1 to 2 inches look likely, with the heavier amounts over the southern half of the state. The rain will end Thursday night, and Friday looks like a cloudy and damp day with a chance of some lingering light rain or drizzle. Friday will be cooler with temperatures in the 40s all day.

WEEKEND PREVIEW: For now our weekend weather looks dry. On Saturday, lingering morning clouds should give way to afternoon sunshine with a high around 50. Sunday looks dry with a decent amount of sunshine, and again the high will be close to 50. The 06Z GFS shows some colder air trying to nudge in here, which might keep highs in the 40s on Sunday.

NEXT WEEK AND BEYOND: The rest of the month looks interesting with a strongly negative Arctic Oscillation developing, and an active southern storm track. Looks like we will deal with a chance of precipitation about every four days as the southern branch keeps cranking out the hits. See the Weather Xtreme video for details…

STORM ALERT 2010 COMES TO GADSDEN TOMORROW NIGHT: Our annual severe weather tour across Alabama comes to Gadsden tomorrow night; we will be at the Convention Hall.
