Strong Storms in West Alabama

| May 24, 2024 @ 2:41 pm

The activity in North and Northeast Alabama has all weakened or moved out of the area.

The remaining convection is over Pickens, Lamar, Fayette, and northwestern Tuscaloosa Counties. It has hail just below severe limits, a lot of lightning (26 flashes per minute), very heavy rain, and gusty winds.

The activity is not severe, but strong enough to warrant a significant weather alert in southern Fayette, NE Lamar, and extreme Northwest Tuscaloosa counties.

One hour rainfall amounts have exceeded 2″ in parts of Pickens and southern Fayette Counties.

The strongest part of the storms will pass across southern Fayette, extreme northern Tuscaloosa County.
