Snowstorm Taking Shape

Our low pressure system is out over the Gulf of Mexico tonight. It exited the Texas coast near Corpus Christi earlier this evening.

A vigorous upper disturbance is passing south of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex at this hour. Light snow was continuing in the Metroplex, but snow was intensifying ahead of the disturbance over eastern Texas. Road conditions are worsening over eastern Texas as the snow continues to fall. Light snow is reported at Longview, Tyler, Waco and Dallas. Thundersnow was reported in Tyler earlier tonight. I would not be surprised to see more of that tomorrow over South Central Alabama.

Light snow is reported across northern and Central Louisiana. It is 34F at Alexandria with light snow. It is 32F at Natchitoches with light snow.

Light snow is well into Mississippi, with snow at Greenville, Greenwood, Jackson, Vicksburg and McComb. A recent report indicates heavy snow at McComb. Precipitation southwest of Starkville and Columbus will move into those areas soon. 1/2 inch of snow now on the ground at Natchez.

Late note from SW Alabama This is Randy T. from down in southwest alabama.. Washington County.. Thought you would like to know that it started lightly snowing here about 20 minutes ago. The temp is now 35 degrees and falling. The snow is very light but it has started. Im at my parents house about 25 miles nw of Chatom in the northwest part of the county.. Ill keep you all updated from this part of the state..

Not much change in forecast thinking. Still expecting widespread 1 to 2 inch snowfall amounts in the I-20 corridor…with lesser amounts to th enorth and heavier amounts to the south. Evening run of the NAM indicated as much as 8-10 inches of just north of Mobile from this system!
