East Alabama Storms
Storms in Georgia are leaving a legacy in eastern Alabama tonight as outflow from the earlier storms has triggered showers and storms across the eastern part of the state.
At 7:25 pm they extend from Calhoun and Cleburne counties near Heflin along the Clay/Randolph county line east of Lineville, into northeastern Tallapoosa xcounty near New Site and Daviston. Further south, others are along I-85 southwest of Auburn. Others are near Hurtsboro in Russell County.
A significant weather alert was just issued for parts of Clay county.
There is an isolated storm in northern Jefferson county west of Kimberly.
In North Alabama, there is a strong storm near Hazel Green in northern Madison county.
There is a large area of moderate to heavy rain over Northwest Alabama over Colbert and Lauderdale counties.
In South Central ALabama, a storm is 20 miles southwest of Selma.
All activity is drifting west to northwest. The storms in eastern Alabama probably have the best chances of holding together for an hour or two.
The stronger storms will have lightning, very heavy rain, and wind gusts to 35-40 mph.
