An all new edition of the ABC 33/40 Weather Xtreme video is available in the player below. You can subscribe to the Weather Xtreme video on iTunes by clicking here.

FEELING GOOD: Birmingham is at 53 degrees at 2:00… Tuscaloosa is all the way up to 56. Nobody complaining, and even warmer weather is likely in the days ahead.

We expect a high in the upper 50s tomorrow, and it sure looks like low 60s are possible over the weekend as a zonal flow sets up over the southern U.S. I guess you might see a speck or two on radar at some point this weekend, but for the northern half of Alabama, our weekend looks mostly dry. I have an idea a few cases of spring fever might show up with the mild afternoons.

OUR NEXT RAIN: Rain returns to Alabama late Sunday night into Monday. The 12Z GFS hints the best chance of rain will come from about 12:00 midnight Sunday night to 12:00 noon Monday. Rain amounts of 1/2 to 1 inch are likely, and you might even hear some thunder.

NEXT WEEK: Colder air follows the rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. And, then comes the next storm system. Our Deep South snow event is back on the 12Z GFS; watch the Weather Xtreme video for details. It will come and go on the various runs a number of times in coming days; we will begin to feel more comfortable forecasting the system more specifically this weekend. No way of resolving details now, although we all have fun guessing. We just don’t like to get into the guessing business. Let’s wait until we have some skill at handling the nit picking details that will determine who gets what.

ON THE ROAD TO MOUNDVILLE TONIGHT: Our annual severe weather rolls along; our next stop is tonight at Hale County High School in Moundville. You can meet the ABC 33/40 Weather team, see some amazing Alabama weather stories, learn how to keep your family safe this tornado season, and win some cool stuff. The great American weather legend, J.B. Elliott, will be there. Even got a note that ABC 33/40 weather alumni John Oldshue might even make an appearance.

The show begins at 7:00; be sure and get there early to get a good seat. I will be doing the weather live from the site at 5:00 and 6:00.

WEATHER BRAINS: Don’t forget you can listen to our weekly 30 minute netcast anytime on the web, or on iTunes. This is the show all about weather featuring many familiar voices, including our meteorologists here at ABC 33/40. You can even listen here on the blog; look for the player on the top left.
