| November 15, 2024 @ 11:50 am

Tropical Storm Sara continues to maintain itself as it nears the coast of Central America. There have been reports of major flooding and mudslides across the region as a result of this storm.

Here are the latest stats from the NHC:

SUMMARY OF 1200 PM CST...1800 UTC...INFORMATION
-----------------------------------------------
LOCATION...16.1N 86.1W
ABOUT 30 MI...50 KM SSW OF ISLA GUANAJA HONDURAS
ABOUT 170 MI...270 KM SE OF BELIZE CITY
MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...50 MPH...85 KM/H
PRESENT MOVEMENT...W OR 270 DEGREES AT 2 MPH...4 KM/H

The system is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico sometime early next week. Based on model projections, the storm should weaken by this point. However, the chance that it will maintain itself once it goes back over water is still there, although it is small. We will continue to monitor the data and provide regular updates on this system.
