Very Impressive Lake Effect Snows in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and New York

| December 3, 2024 @ 9:20 pm

This past week, a significant lake effect snow event unfolded across the Great Lakes Region, with many towns measuring their snow in FEET rather than inches! Some areas saw as much as 5 feet of snow in only 3 days which is very impressive even for lake effect. Per the graphic from the Weather Prediction Center, the highest recorded snowfall was in Castorland NY, coming in at a whopping 65.9 inches!

As if that was not enough, another round of lake effect snow is expected later this week in some of the same hard hit areas as last week. Winter storm watches have once again been hoisted for places like Watertown, Syracuse, Erie, and Cleveland, where additional snow accumulations of more than 12″ are possible.
