Sunny & Cool Today; Becoming Warmer with Showers at Times Starting Tomorrow

| December 7, 2024 @ 12:36 pm

As of the 12pm round up from across Central Alabama, skies are mostly sunny with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to the upper 50s. The warm spots were Alexander City and Troy at 57, while the cool spots were Gadsden and Jasper at 48. Birmingham was at 50 degrees. Afternoon highs will only warm up into the lower to mid 50s for most. Clouds will be on the increase tonight as a boundary will be heading in our direction, but we’ll stay dry. Lows will be in the 30s.

The boundary gets closer on Sunday, and clouds will continue to build through the morning hours. Rain will become possible by the late morning hours in the northwest and will eventually move eastward through the day and evening. While the rain will be some good news for the drought numbers, we’ll also have warmer temperatures as highs reach the mid 50s to the mid 60s across Central Alabama.

Rainfall totals from now through Wednesday night.

Rainfall totals from now through Wednesday night.

Rain will continue to be with us through the early morning hours on Wednesday, and we could see complete rainfall totals from this rainy stretch reach as much as an inch to an inch and a half over the northern half of the state, with totals exceeding two to three inches over the southern parts. While this won’t alleviate our drought issues, this will be a good step in the right direction.
