| December 17, 2024 @ 8:30 pm

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a dense fog advisory for its entire CWA. This includes all areas north of a line from York to Selma to Troy, including the Tuscaloosa and Birmingham metro areas. There is also a dense fog advisory issued for northern Alabama issued by the NWS in Huntsville. This includes the remaining northern counties of the state not included in the advisory issued by NWS Birmingham.

The dense fog advisory is in effect until 8am on Wednesday, and visibility is expected to drop to as low as 1/4 mile or less across the area. If traveling, use caution and allow for extra time to get to your destination. Be sure to reduce speed in foggy areas, and give plenty of space between you and the vehicle in front of you.
